Small Scale Living
Cheyne Place, Chelsea
This prominent Chelsea project comprises five apartments, including a duplex, set within a highly sensitive heritage context opposite the Chelsea Physic Garden and close to the Royal Hospital Chelsea, designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
We were appointed to develop the scheme through RIBA Stages 3 and 4, preparing a detailed tender package and advancing significant design improvements that will form the basis of a forthcoming Section 73 application. We are also appointed for RIBA Stage 5 to support delivery on site.
The design combines a robust yet elegant palette of dark-brown handmade brickwork, Portland limestone and bronze-hued metalwork. Contemporary details such as minimal vertical sliding sash windows, profiled balcony railings and corbelled brick banding establish a building that is firmly of its time, while remaining sensitive to its historic and eclectic context.
